Webertherm XM natura, Weber's first ETICS with cork insulation

Weber certifies the first External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS) with a 100 % bio-based insulation material. Thanks to its natural cork insulation, webertherm XM natura delivers energy savings while protecting the environment.

The new webertherm XM natura External Thermal Insulation system consists of cork boards from 1 to 20 cm thick, an air lime base coat and a wide range of finishing renders in highly varied textures and colors. A major benefit of this ETICS: the very nature of its insulation material, cork, which is rot-proof, recyclable and biodegradable, and therefore of high environmental value.

A bio-based insulation material with naturally outstanding performance
Through the sole action of steam at a temperature above 300 °C, the bark of the cork oak is expanded and then agglomerated. With the heat, the cork granules turn brown and release a natural resin (suberin). No external additive is therefore needed apart from water. Its unique honeycomb structure gives it high thermal and acoustic properties. Its thermal conductivity of 0.040 W/(m.K), i.e. a maximum thermal resistance of 5 m².K/W, is thus ACERMI certified.

Naturally made up of 95 % inert gas, cork is de facto an acoustic insulator. Above a thickness of 5 mm, a cork covering absorbs low, medium and high frequencies, considerably reducing airborne and impact noise. Its rot-proof nature, combined with optimal compressive strength (greater than 100 Kpa), allows this cork insulation to be used in damp environments, notably for insulating plinths, whether buried or not. webertherm XM natura offers a wide range of applications, on single-family houses as well as multi-family housing, in new construction as well as renovation.

Its excellent water vapor permeability also makes it an ally of old buildings. Finally, validated by a lepir2 test, the webertherm XM natura system requires no fire-break strips, confirming its excellent fire behavior (classification B-s1, dO). webertherm XM natura contributes to thermal comfort in winter as well as in summer. It combines energy savings and environmental protection without giving up a carefully designed aesthetic signature, thanks to a vast choice of finishes (textures & colors).
