Unity 9 by Knauf Danoline, the removable plasterboard ceiling with continuous perforation

By returning to Architect@work Paris, Knauf, a major player in innovative acoustic solutions, confirms its expertise among specifiers by showcasing creative solutions that combine aesthetics and acoustic performance: the Unity 9 and Designboard offerings.

Unity 9 by Knauf Danoline, the removable plasterboard ceiling with continuous perforation
Like all the designs in the Unity range, the Unity 9 tile makes it possible to create an acoustic plasterboard ceiling with a monolithic finish.

Thanks to a continuous 9 x 9 mm square perforation running right up to the edges of the tile, the new Unity 9 design from Knauf Danoline guarantees the solid, reassuring look of a monolithic ceiling, without sacrificing any acoustic quality.

Unity 9 is therefore particularly well suited to public buildings (ERP) with a strong need for noise reduction, such as classrooms, canteens, brasseries, reception halls, break rooms, offices (especially open-plan), meeting rooms, shopping centres and shops... Unity 9 offers remarkable sound absorption (?w = 0,75), and even more when combined with mineral wool (?w = 0,85). Unity 9 is available in three versions.

• The first, machined with straight edges of the Plaza A+ type, leaves the framework visible. This type of edge, ideal for installation on T24 frameworks, draws on the grid pattern of the tiles while remaining discreet, since tiles and framework are at the same level, preserving a smooth ceiling appearance.

• The second, of the Belgravia E+ type, features semi-recessed edges, with T15 frameworks. The slight setback of the framework thus created further enhances the structured, linear look of the ceiling.

• The third, to be discovered as a preview at Architect@work, is the Contur D+ type, which has the distinctive feature of concealing the T24 framework while maintaining access to the plenum. The absence of a grid and the perforation right up to the edge of the tile give this ceiling a sober, clean appearance.

Knauf Designboard Fire, the new collection of ceilings and wall coverings offering high acoustic and fire resistance performance
With Knauf Designboard Fire, Knauf is launching a new concept of aesthetic interior cladding for ceilings and walls, offering high acoustic performance and a fire reaction rating of A2-S1, D0. While every space demands its own acoustic concept, Knauf is opening up entirely new architectural possibilities for designer interiors with certified acoustic and fire-retardant properties. Knauf Designboard Fire ceilings and wall coverings (on a cellulose-fibre plasterboard substrate) indeed ensure certified technical solutions in high-rise buildings (IGH), public buildings (ERP) and commercial buildings, while offering a genuine variety of surfaces and colours.

The range includes two finishes: Laminate and Wood (genuine wood veneer 0,6 mm), to ensure successful ceiling and wall covering designs. Also worth noting is the wide range of possible finishes thanks to digital printing, which allows the decorative effect to be customised: stone, wood, metal and lacquered paint.

New 2018 to discover at Architect@work, Knauf is offering a new finish, nanoperforation (diameter of 0,5 mm and perforation rate of 5,77 %). This new Knauf solution, designed to be ?invisible?, is available in Laminate and Wood versions. It provides optimal sound absorption (?w up to 0,90) and perfectly meets current demand: sobriety, acoustic comfort, design and compliance with fire regulations.

The finest projects to discover on ?Room for Expression?
Unity 9 by Knauf Danoline and Knauf Designboard Fire, like all acoustic solutions for walls and ceilings, are showcased in the Knauf Inspirations space, www.knauf.fr/inspirations.

Aimed at architects and specifiers, this content details real projects in which acoustics and aesthetics are closely linked, highlighting achievements that demonstrate by example the full extent of the possibilities offered by Knauf innovations.
