The studio, which was founded in 1988 by Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta, has put a concept together which is focused on their passion for architecture and collective understanding. The ?world of the shared creativity’, as they themselves call it, is based on the studio itself and two other parts that make up this ecosystem. Firstly, the RCR Laboratorio Barberí (Lab·A), is a place that is aimed at creative research and mainstreaming which in addition, organises workshops and offers an open programme of conferences and exhibitions. Secondly, the RCR Bunka, established as an informational institution which contains the firm’s projects, as well as numerous riches, among which one can find some drafts, models and other references of interest.
In addition to this award given by the PORCELANOSA Grupo, the studio has picked up other famous awards, such as: the Pritzker Architecture Award (2017) or la Médaille d’Or de l’Académie d’Architecture Française (2015), el Officier y Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française (2014 y 2008), son International Fellows by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA, 2012), Honorary Fellows by the American Institute of Architecture (HFAIA, 2010), among others.
