Somfy announces new features for its connected thermostat

As a signatory of the F.A.I.R.E charter, Somfy, the global leader in automation of openings and closures for the home and building, is strongly committed to the energy renovation of buildings and supports homeowners by enabling them to save energy every day. While the Ministry of Ecological Transition has introduced a government bonus to encourage the French to install a smart thermostat at home, Somfy is announcing new, even higher-performing features for its connected thermostat, which is eligible for the ?coup de pouce thermostat? (thermostat boost) scheme granting 150? in aid towards the installation cost.
The Somfy thermostat is 100% programmed by its users, disproving the idea that a programmable thermostat can be useless when it is not programmed. It is estimated that many programmable thermostats are not programmed and therefore do not deliver the full benefits promised, unlike Somfy thermostats.
One of the broadest compatibilities on the market
Faced with this new government scheme, it is clear that the equipment rate in France is still low: only about 10%* of French people are believed to be equipped with a connected thermostat, despite their desire to change their habits and reduce their energy consumption. Indeed, depending on the home's equipment, finding a thermostat compatible with one's heating can quickly prove complicated. The new Somfy connected thermostat offers broader compatibility. Compatible with heat pumps/boilers/pellet stoves/electric radiators/underfloor heating, it adapts to the multitude of existing heating systems. Somfy offers a selection tool on its website to check compatibility before purchase among more than 2500 heating system references (https://trouvermasolutiondechauffage.somfy.fr). The best solution will thus be recommended based on the type of home, type of boiler, etc.

The new Somfy connected thermostat features a new, more efficient regulation algorithm specific to each type of application: after a few weeks, the self-learning mode fine-tunes the heating regulation to adapt perfectly to the characteristics of each system. Thanks to the ?coaching? function, users receive personalized advice to improve their consumption and reduce their expenses. They can also set consumption targets and be alerted when these are reached. According to the French Agency for Ecological Transition and Energy Management (Ademe), installing a room thermostat saves on average 15 % of energy, i.e. an annual reduction of 210 euros (source: ADEME, estimated figure for a gas-heated house, for an annual bill of approximately 1400?).
The performance of the wifi and bluetooth components has also been improved. Finally, the installation process has been redesigned to be faster and more convenient.
Tailor-made comfort
The new version of the Somfy connected thermostat features a ?touch dial?, which allows users to adjust the temperature more efficiently and more easily. Its intuitive app makes it possible to program the thermostat automatically in one minute. It now offers the ability to change the zone sizes and the temperature difference for the ?geolocation? function.
A complete ecosystem
Compatible with TaHoma, the Somfy connected thermostat can be combined with energy-saving scenarios involving other Somfy equipment such as motorized shutters and sun sensors. For example, opening the shutters lets users enjoy the sun's heat and lower the heating, saving up to 10%* on the heating bill. The thermostat is also compatible with Amazon Alexa, IFTTT and Google Home.

As a brand committed to its customers on the durability of its products, Somfy offers a 5-year warranty promise. The Somfy connected thermostat is eligible for the government ?coup de pouce? (boost) for pilot-wire electrical installations and pellet stoves. Since 1er July 2020, the ?Coup de pouce thermostat? programme has aimed to promote household energy savings by enabling them to reduce their heating consumption this winter. To achieve this, the State offers aid of 150 euros for the installation of a latest-generation thermostat capable of programming heating optimally. The bonus is funded by the Energy Savings Certificates (CEE) mechanism, or CEE energy bonuses, which require energy suppliers to contribute to financing energy performance improvement works in private homes.
