Schöck ASE formwork: the exemplary construction site of the Ycone Tower

Schöck ASE formwork is designed for producing exposed construction elements such as the edges of precast slabs, precast walls, balconies and beam edges, for which a perfectly smooth appearance, free of bubbles and surface imperfections, and an impeccable facing are genuine aesthetic assets. Its simple, fast and "safe" installation is, moreover, highly appreciated by precasters seeking short lead times, optimized profitability and quality of finish.
This innovative, turnkey solution was therefore chosen by the concrete products specialist Plattard for the prefabrication of more than 300 linear meters of beams assembled in the heart of the Ycone Tower, in the Confluence district, on the Lyon peninsula. Designed by the architect Jean Nouvel, this distinctive tower rises to a height of 64 meters and houses a mixed-use program of 92 apartments (including 27 social rental housing units) spread over 14 floors and 660 m2 of retail space located on the ground floor. The timber frame, the concrete facade clad in aluminum, a double skin of opaline glass providing spacious terraces and loggias, and a metal cap give Ycone a "floating" silhouette. This lightness relies on the strength of the floors built at each level with beams incorporating Schöck ASE extruded fiber-reinforced concrete formwork C40/50.
While on a typical construction site, traditional on-site formwork is a tedious, time-consuming and sometimes risky step, particularly when workers have to install formwork at great heights, the POUTRÉKO® prefabricated solution avoids many handling operations and provides optimal safety. Integrating the Schöck ASE in the factory produces pre-formed beams complete with their reinforcement, which are delivered to the site to be poured at the same time as the floor. Lighter because they are hollow, they are easier to unload and handle, added benefits much appreciated by the crews. As for the keying between beams, here again simplicity prevails: all that is needed is to cut the ASE formwork to pour joints and column heads in a single operation. The wide ASE range thus made it possible to use 6 different ASE heights (all with a length of 270 cm, but with height variants: 18 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 cm) to adapt to the various configurations encountered on the Ycone Tower site! These ASE 0DW models, without sealing gaskets, made the difference, with their chamfered profile appealing to users and ensuring a flawless finish.
It should also be noted that Schöck ASE formwork is characterized by its resistance to bending (15-16 N/mm2), to pressure (55- 60 N/mm2), to frost and to bad weather. Finally, let us stress that, compared with traditional systems, this solution generates no waste in the prefabrication plant or on site, and also reduces the disturbance caused to local residents (since it shortens the long and noisy stage of on-site formwork and pouring).

A construction site made easier by prefabrication that is itself ultra-simplified
