New heating and cooling solution with Zehnder plasterboard ceiling

With its new ?plasterboard ceilings? solution, Zehnder is expanding its range of heating and cooling ceilings for commercial buildings (offices, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, etc.). Totally invisible, the thermal activation system integrated into the plasterboard ceiling offers a solution combining a clean aesthetic with high thermal performance, acoustic treatment and easy installation.
Aesthetic in design, Zehnder's new heating and cooling plasterboard ceiling activation solution consists of a thermal activation panel (aluminium plate and copper tube coils). It is installed by simply fastening it to the supporting furring channel (centre distance 50 or 33.3 cm) of standard-size plasterboard ceiling panels (width of 120 cm x length from 240 cm to more than 300 cm), with no need to increase the plenum height.
The activation system makes Zehnder plasterboard heating and cooling ceilings a totally invisible architectural solution whose thermal output is suited to the growing needs of high-performance commercial buildings. The plasterboard panels can be cut to meet architectural requirements, giving complete freedom of shape to blend in with the geometry of the room.
The activation modules are connected to each other and to the distribution network using flexible hoses with ?pushfitting? quick connectors, making hydraulic connections easy and fast.
A high-performance thermal solution for comfort
The conductive profiles made of an aluminium plate create a large transfer surface, which ensures excellent uniformity of heat transfer and a fast, even distribution of heat or cooling exchange. In addition, the high conductivity of the copper tube coils contributes to efficient heat transfer.
Heating or cooling is gentle and natural, with no forced air and no cold draughts, ensuring optimal thermal comfort in commercial buildings. The absence of air circulation guarantees perfect hygiene for occupants.
Offered with smooth plasterboard panels, Zehnder's new heating and cooling ceiling solution is also available with perforated plasterboard panels (round or square perforations, as preferred) providing high sound absorption (weighted sound absorption coefficient in accordance with DIN EN ISO 11654 up to ?w = 0,5 depending on the perforation type).
Zehnder plasterboard heating and cooling ceilings require no cleaning or maintenance. These reversible systems, which provide heating in winter and cooling of the premises in summer, can be combined equally with a chiller, a boiler or a reversible heat pump.
Zehnder plasterboard heating and cooling ceiling solutions, which deliver savings of more than 30% compared with forced-air systems, give specifiers a response that complies with thermal regulatory requirements. To meet the needs of commercial buildings, Zehnder offers its plasterboard heating and cooling ceilings supplied and installed, but can also deliver only the thermal activation panels, which are then integrated into the plasterboard panels on site.
