KAWNEER's KAPTIV, the ?chameleon window? that adapts to every need

In France, window manufacturing is split between industrial companies with high production capacity and general-purpose, more craft-oriented companies. Their needs vary according to their equipment and production volume, and system suppliers must adapt to them. To offer all its customers windows that are high-performing, attractive and cost-effective, KAWNEER has developed KAPTIV, a modular window range that meets every application, every configuration and every production method.
The KAPTIV window range was designed to adapt to every configuration with a reduced number of components. Based on 2 frames of 72 mm and 2 sashes of 28-32 mm (aluminium profile with PVC thermal break) and 28-48 mm (aluminium profile with polyamide thermal break bars), KAPTIV makes it possible to manufacture 5 different windows:
• 28-32 mm sash: concealed (PVC glazing bead), visible (aluminium glazing bead) and semi-visible/concealed (aluminium glazing bead, sash concealed when the window is closed and visible when it is open),
• 28-48 mm sash: visible, with 2 sash heights.
The profiles are complemented by versatile accessories: pin hinges or clamp-on hinges, visible or invisible hardware (16 groove), and sealing and finishing parts in plastic with a particularly refined look. By mixing and matching the different components, the KAPTIV range makes it possible to manufacture windows with optimised performance, appearance and cost. It is therefore perfectly suited to all types of buildings (commercial, public access buildings, residential), in both new construction and renovation.
Made to measure up to H 2 500 x W 1 200 mm per leaf, KAPTIV is available as a casement window with 1 or 2 leaves (side-hung and tilt-and-turn), a French window with an accessible threshold (PMR) and a fixed frame. It can also be integrated into composite assemblies with transom, spandrel and side fixed panels.
It is available as a window-unit version or with perimeter frames, for:
• better sealing (mitred cut),
• a refined look (a single profile for the top/bottom parts and side uprights),
• and streamlined stock management.
Whatever the configuration chosen, the KAPTIV range delivers performance in line with current market demand:
• thermal insulation Uw from 1,4 to 1,2 W/m2.K (with thermal supplement),
• acoustic insulation of up to Rw 41 dB with a thick sash,
• weather tightness of up to A*4 E*7A V*A3 (A*4 E*5A V*A3 with threshold).
For better protection against break-in attempts, the KAPTIV range is compatible with hardware rated RC2.
With its straight-look profiles, the KAPTIV range offers a contemporary design. Everything has been designed to achieve a refined look that can be adapted to requirements: glazing bead and thermal break that can be lacquered in the colour of the profile, option of invisible hardware, straight or mitred cut, pin hinges or clamp-on hinges…
Featuring a central meeting stile that is slimmer (69 mm) than most aluminium windows, KAPTIV is fitted with a centred handle for a better look. It is compatible with all the recessed-case handles offered by KAWNEER, as well as with several new handle options with a straight or rounded look (monobloc system, recessed case with cover or case without visible base).
The KAPTIV range is available in all KAWNEER colour charts (RAL, textured colours and exclusive shades). It is also available from stock in RAL 9016S (white) and 7016P (anthracite grey). For perfect integration both inside and outside, it can also be made in dual colours.
Designed to be more comfortable for installers to fit, the KAPTIV range adapts to all installation configurations (from the inside or the outside, with or without an existing frame…):
• bar fixing,
• front fixing for facade mounting,
• full removal with semi-fitted installation,
• full removal with fully fitted installation,
• full removal in tunnel with semi-fitted installation,
• full removal in tunnel with fully fitted installation.
100 % robot-compatible and compatible with CNC machines, the KAPTIV range optimises production and adapts to the equipment and needs of all professional manufacturers, industrial and general-purpose alike, who specialise in aluminium windows.
Everything has been designed to limit the number of machining operations and optimise supply and storage:
• a reduced number of components making it possible to manufacture several window configurations from the same profiles,
• a mix-and-match approach that meets every need and adapts to the production equipment of all manufacturers (16 groove hardware, for example, is ideal for PVC and aluminium window manufacturers, as it requires no aluminium-specific tooling),
• assembly with plugs developed specifically by KAWNEER to limit machining and silicone application while ensuring drainage, sealing and the appearance of the frame,
• a single assembly bracket to screw or crimp the frame, whether it is visible or concealed,
• pre-assembled gaskets on the profiles to boost productivity.
Suited to all the needs of professionals, the KAPTIV range is also compatible with all KAWNEER windows and architectural solutions.
