Insulating plinths with Ravatherm Polyfoam Duo Plus and Polyfoam Drain

With the growth of External Thermal Insulation (ETI), insulating plinths and below-ground walls has become essential to ensure continuity and reduce thermal bridges at the base of buildings. Depending on their configuration, these walls must also benefit from mechanical protection and/or drainage of runoff and infiltration water.
To meet all of these requirements, Ravatherm offers two complementary solutions suited to High-Rise Buildings (IGH) and Public Access Buildings (ERP), in both new construction and renovation: Polyfoam Duo Plus, for the insulation and mechanical protection of plinths, and Polyfoam Drain, which insulates and protects below-ground walls and drains runoff and infiltration water.
Polyfoam Duo Plus is an extruded polystyrene board coated on one side with a high-density fibre cement protective layer of 10 mm. A two-in-one product, it provides insulation and mechanical protection for plinths, for the reserve strip located between the finished ground level and the start of the external insulation, and for parapet upstands. Highly efficient, Polyfoam Duo Plus offers a thermal conductivity coefficient ? of 0,029 W/m.K up to 160 mm and a thermal resistance R up to 4,80 m2.K/W. Thanks to its fibre cement coating, it also ensures excellent mechanical protection against impacts, avoiding the need for a layer of concrete to protect the insulation.
With board dimensions of 1250 x 600 mm, Polyfoam Duo Plus is available in 6 thicknesses (from 50+10 mm to 140+10 mm).
Polyfoam Drain is an extruded polystyrene board coated with a 8 mm HDPE drainage layer and a non-woven geotextile. A three-in-one product, it makes it possible to insulate below-ground walls down to 10 m deep, mechanically protect the waterproofing, and drain runoff and infiltration water, all in a single operation.
Highly efficient, Polyfoam Drain offers a thermal conductivity coefficient ? of 0,029 W/m.K up to 140 + 8 mm and a thermal resistance R up to 4,80 m2.K/W. Overlapping by 10 cm on two sides of the board, the non-woven geotextile prevents the drainage layer from clogging between two boards. With dimensions of 1250 x 600 mm, Polyfoam Drain is available in 6 thicknesses (from 50+8 mm to 140+8 mm).
Water-resistant and highly resistant to compression (compressive stress CS(10)300 and Rcs up to 215 kPa), Polyfoam Duo Plus and Polyfoam Drain boards perfectly withstand the mechanical stresses specific to plinths and below-ground walls.
Compliant with the European standard XPS EN 13164 and with the recommendations of the Chambre Syndicale Française de l'Etanchéité (CFSE), they hold ACERMI certification.
Thanks to their tongue-and-groove edges, Polyfoam Duo Plus and Polyfoam Drain boards are easy and quick to install by simple interlocking. They are easily cut with a saw or an angle grinder and are fixed using Ravatherm Fix, a fast-setting self-expanding polyurethane foam adhesive, and the Ravatherm Spray Gun application gun.
