Residential and Industrial: market leader Hörmann innovates on all fronts

True to its role as a European leader in the manufacture of doors, door sets, frames and operators for industry, commercial buildings and housing, Hörmann is celebrating the new season 2017 with a wealth of innovations. In the Residential segment, Hörmann is developing new garage doors and new entrance door models, as well as radio-controlled operators for locking existing apartment doors. Hörmann is also highlighting new optional equipment for entrance doors and for garage door and gate operators. In the Industrial segment, Hörmann is once again presenting a whole range of solutions: high-speed doors, industrial sectional doors, rolling shutters and grilles, dock equipment, and a complete programme for safe docking, ensuring flawless logistics right through to the last mile...

Hormann in the Residential segment

Thermo steel/aluminium entrance door 65: a new glazed design and new optional equipment
Hörmann is introducing its new design 600 for the Thermo 65 entrance door, now with a particularly elegant glazed element highlighted by a contrasting black frame. Available since July, the Thermo 65 with design 600 is fitted with a new ergonomic stainless steel handle (optional) on the steel panel and with triple insulating glazing. Available in all Hörmann colours and decors, the Thermo 65 with design 600, which has a U value of 0 ,98 W/(m2.K), is also optionally available with an automatic lock with mechanical self-locking: when the door is pushed shut, all the bolts engage automatically, guaranteeing safe and effective locking.

ThermoSafe and ThermoCarbon: security made accessible
In recent years, the number of burglaries has risen sharply. It is all the more important to fit your entrance door with a high level of security equipment. Indeed, if a burglar fails to get in within the first 3 to 5 minutes, he abandons the attempt. That is why more than half of burglary attempts fail when the door is sufficiently secured. Hörmann is making security accessible with ThermoSafe and ThermoCarbon, designer entrance doors fitted as standard with CR 3 burglar-resistant equipment, including for large sizes, and optionally for the side panels for added security.

Eligible for the energy transition tax credit (30 %), ThermoSafe and ThermoCarbon offer high insulation, with respective UD values of up to 0,8 W/(m2.K) and 0,47 W/(m2.K). These performances are made possible notably by a one-piece, thermally broken aluminium door leaf of 73 mm for ThermoSafe and 100 mm for ThermoCarbon (with PU foam injected over the entire surface) and a concealed interior/exterior leaf frame. The aluminium door frame (80 mm for ThermoSafe and 111 mm for ThermoCarbon) is also thermally broken, with a rigid PU foam panel, notably preventing condensation on the door frame.

As good news never comes alone, Hörmann also offers, as an option for its ThermoSafe aluminium entrance doors, handles with an integrated LED light bar (for designs 514, 524, 525, 565, 568, 590, 759, 799 and 879) as well as full-height frame handles (designs 723, 822 and 823). In terms of security, Hörmann is strengthening its solutions with numerous options: keypad, electronic peephole, integrated door closer, opening limiter. Finally, to ensure optimal sealing of entrance doors without a threshold, Hörmann can, on request, integrate a retractable floor seal, a useful technical solution for wheelchair users.

New LPU 67 Thermo garage door: high insulation
The new LPU 67 Thermo garage door offers very high insulation. Hörmann states a door U value of 0,91 W/(m2.K), which is a 50 % gain in thermal insulation compared with an LPU 42 sectional door (identical dimensions of 5.000 x 2.125 mm). This new high thermal performance solution from Hörmann, with a thermally broken aluminium glazing bead, comes in two models (maximum dimensions: width 5.000 mm, height 3.000 mm): the standard version and the Premium version with high-end interior finish (double guide rollers, hardware parts, track frames, guide rails and spacer bar in white aluminium grey RAL 9002). Fitted as standard with anti-finger-trap protection on the inside and outside, both variants of the LPU 67 Thermo also have triple sheet-metal reinforcement in the screw-fixing areas, as well as a double lip seal at the panel joints and a double floor seal. In terms of finishes, for the M, L and L design ribbed designs, the Hörmann LPU 67 Thermo door is available in Silkgrain traffic white, 15 preferred colours and RAL colours of your choice, but also in Decograin veneer in Golden Oak, Dark Oak and Titan Metallic CH 703.

To ensure optimal ventilation of a garage and effectively prevent mould formation, Hörmann is unveiling a relevant solution with its ventilation grille. Optionally available on all motorised LPU 42 sectional doors and possible to retrofit on all LPU doors (N, L or Z hardware) motorised with a SupraMatic or ProMatic operator, the Hörmann ventilation grille, positioned on the top panel by means of a roll-up support, automatically manages garage ventilation thanks to climate sensors. As the inner panel of the door stays on the floor, it prevents any entry by small animals.

Special for renovation: the RollMatic OD garage door
With the new RollMatic OD roll-up garage door, which rolls up under the ceiling, Hörmann provides a practical answer to renovation projects. Particularly compact, with its slats of 77 mm in height, the RollMatic OD requires a lintel of only 60 mm! With a minimal side clearance of 100 mm, the compact mounting of the ProMatic operator (standard) or SupraMatic E, on the right or on the left, is carried out on the horizontal guide rail. To ensure exemplary long-term performance, Hörmann has also fitted this garage door with a flexible lip seal at the lintel and a balancing system with multiple tension springs.

SmartKey, the wireless Hörmann solution for operating the locking of existing apartment and house doors
With SmartKey, Hörmann opens up a new dimension in comfort, security and functionality. With SmartKey, users lock and unlock their door using a transmitter, a wireless push button or the Hörmann BiSecur app. Locking takes place automatically after 30, 60 or 120 seconds or with a delay (10, 20 or 30 seconds) after pressing the button. Users are notified of correct end positions by an audible and visual feedback signal. The operator is mounted on the inserted key (including inner cylinder protrusion of 7 to 12 mm) and installation is simple and flexible thanks to three options: clipping, gluing or screwing.

Garage door and gate operators: ever more comfort and savings
Comfort is also in the spotlight at Hörmann for garage door and gate operators. LED lighting (energy class A++) is now fitted as standard on SupraMatic and ProMatic operators and reduces energy consumption by 85 %! Still on energy savings, Hörmann announces further improved technology for its LineaMatic and RotaMatic gate operators, whose standby energy consumption is reduced to less than 1 watt! Other major advances worth highlighting are the very precisely adjustable gate movement and the optimal adjustment of gate travel speed thanks to the new digital programming system.

Here too, Hörmann's creativity and expertise are at work in developing new solutions. On the programme: sectional doors with a wireless transmission unit, high-speed doors that are as understated as they are discreet, rolling shutters and grilles specially designed for underground car parks, and high-performance dock equipment to ensure optimal logistics flow on the last mile.

Industrial sectional doors
By offering this new wireless transmission unit as an option for industrial sectional doors, Hörmann eliminates the spiral cable, which makes for a more attractive look on the one hand, and longer service life on the other. Discretion continues, as power is supplied by batteries and signals from the door leaf are transmitted via Bluetooth. Finally, Hörmann also offers a customisable vision panel, in colours different from that of the door, with a frame made in the desired shades, to blend perfectly with customers' visual identity.

High-speed doors
For high-speed doors too, Hörmann has done accomplished work on aesthetics. The new V 4015 SEL ALU-R high-speed door is as discreet in operation as it is in its sleek design, with slim (125 mm thick) and elegant side sections made of aluminium. The side housings of the V 4015 SEL ALU-R have also been reduced through the use of a powerful tubular motor with a standard white aluminium shaft cover. Particularly easy to maintain (split shaft cover), the V 4015 SEL ALU-R offers excellent sealing thanks to the lip seal and the small distance to the frame. While the V 4015 SEL ALU-R is fitted as standard with a photoelectric barrier and the Softedge profile with wireless anti-crash switch and manual re-threading, it comes optionally with control elements integrated in the side post, allowing use of all control functions (opening, closing, maintenance settings...).

Rolling shutters and grilles
While Hörmann already has a track record in roll-up grilles for shops with small frontages, the manufacturer is expanding its range with grilles whose first slats are solid, to prevent pests from entering or leaves from accumulating inside the garage. Fitted with this rodent protection, which requires no change to installation dimensions, the Hörmann roll-up grille provides an ideal answer for commercial areas or underground garages.

Another Hörmann solution specially developed for airfields or public works needs, the new SSG-DD shutter offers very large dimensions of up to 30 x 9 metres. It closes a large opening with two or three standard DD roll-up grilles or shutters. Hörmann also highlights simple and fast operation thanks to a lightweight guide rail positioned behind the lintel. While its exterior appearance can be made in cold-rolled aluminium or with a profile coating, the SSG-DD requires no clearance for moving elements inside or outside. Hörmann further confirms that this slatted shutter withstands significantly higher wind load classes than single door solutions. An additional advantage that also benefits the financial side, as the SSG-DD is a far more competitive solution in terms of transport, installation and maintenance!

Complete safe docking solution with temperature retention
Hörmann's expertise in cold chain logistics management is well established. The manufacturer offers a comprehensive system, synonymous with safety and logistical and energy efficiency. This complete solution from Hörmann provides all the answers to ensure optimal transshipment operations. The Hörmann system includes a docking aid (HDA) fitted to the dock leveller (DOBO), with doors closed, which notably ensures that transported goods stay at the right temperature. Furthermore, the SPU 67 sectional doors, with high thermal insulation (U value of up to 0,51 W/(m2.K)), complete this high energy-performance system, as they are fitted with the thermally broken ThermoFrame frame, closing in front of the leveller, all equipped with an MWB-C interlocked wheel chock in line with the recommendations of INRS and CARSAT. This comprehensive 100% Hörmann solution is controlled by a single control unit with one power supply and isolator.

Dock equipment
Constantly developing specific solutions for the various challenges encountered in the logistics sector, Hörmann has just developed the BBS foam-seal dock shelter, specially designed for vans and parcel delivery services. The Hörmann BBS shelter is perfectly suited to the design of this type of vehicle. An optional cut-out in the upper seal allows damage-free docking of vehicles fitted with a rear-view reversing camera. Finally, to customise this shelter precisely to needs, Hörmann offers various options: 4e sealing strip on the underside ensuring a seal of the gap between the dock and the vehicle, GD 1 rubber dock profile for use with mobile dock levellers with threshold, protective cover for loading bays without canopy...

Available online, on PC or Mac as well as on smartphone and tablet, this application requires no installation. Featuring clear operation via drop-down menus and icons, the search function is particularly easy to use. It enables architects, among other things, to produce realistic renderings and specification documents (CCTP), or to download plans in DWG format or diagrams in PDF from a library of 9.000 drawings for 850 Hörmann products.
