Viessmann: all the solutions for connected, high-performance and environmentally friendly heating

Smart Climate, connectivity for the user's peace of mind
Presented at the ISH trade show 2017, the connected Smart Climate range carries a promise: to put the best of digitalisation at the service of the end user.

Built around the Vitoconnect box 100, which has been given a very modern, streamlined design for the occasion, the Smart Climate offer naturally retains the fundamentals introduced last year: a simple and fast connection of the heat generator to the Internet, and the possibility of connecting boilers and heat pumps that are already installed (from 1999 for floor-standing boilers, 2004 for wall-hung boilers and 2010 for heat pumps).

Among the new features, when at home, the user can now control their comfort from a very intuitive colour touchscreen thermostat, which allows very fine temperature adjustment according to lifestyle habits. The ViCare app, enhanced with new functions and with even better ergonomics, still allows the heating system to be controlled remotely. Both control methods benefit from a brand-new range of connected accessories to ensure more precise control than ever. Room sensors placed in the various rooms transmit the temperature in real time, while connected thermostatic valves and underfloor heating controllers continuously adjust their settings to the user's requirements.

It is also worth noting that the interface dedicated to professionals, Vitoguide, has also had its ergonomics improved to give installers easier remote monitoring of the generators they are responsible for. They can thus more easily offer maintenance contracts and give their customers all the peace of mind provided by preventive maintenance.

To reassure end users about data security, Viessmann states that all the information collected will be stored on a secure proprietary server and will be used only to improve the service, in particular to better understand the lifespan of components and thus enable the installer to warn their customer of upcoming maintenance work before a breakdown even occurs.

Fuel cell, a new era
Viessmann is the first manufacturer to launch on the French market a micro-cogeneration boiler equipped with a fuel cell, the Vitovalor 300-P. This solution, developed to respond to market changes (rising electricity prices, increasing electricity consumption in homes, growth of self-consumption), is already mature and has been tested in France by Viessmann for several years.

The principle is very simple: the Vitovalor 300-P combines in just 0,65 m² a condensing gas boiler, a 46 l domestic hot water cylinder, a 170 l buffer tank to store heat, and of course a fuel cell for electricity generation. It works simply: the hydrogen contained in the gas is recovered to produce electricity, which is used to cover part of the household's needs, and the heat generated by the process is stored in the buffer tank for heating and domestic hot water. The user thus makes significant savings on both their electricity and heating bills.

To facilitate the market introduction of this major technological innovation, Viessmann offers a comprehensive package including commissioning, maintenance and a warranty.

Heat pump: a new, ever more efficient range
Viessmann air-source heat pumps get a new look with the redesign of the Vitocal 200 range. They notably feature a brand-new outdoor unit, entirely developed and manufactured in Germany, a sure guarantee of quality. In addition to a unique design, a Viessmann trademark, these new outdoor units place particular emphasis on noise level. Viessmann research and expertise thus make it possible to considerably reduce low-frequency noise emissions, considered the most harmful, and to reach an emission level of 35 dB(A) in night mode at a distance of 3 metres.

The range also welcomes a new model, the Vitocal 200-A, a monobloc air-source heat pump. As the entire heat pump system is located in the outdoor unit, the connection to the indoor unit is hydraulic only. Installation is thus made easier, and a certificate of aptitude and competence for handling refrigerants is no longer required. The indoor unit has all the design and compactness advantages specific to Viessmann.

The Vitocal 100 range, specially designed for the new-build market, is not left behind, as it welcomes a new model with the Vitocal 111-S, a split air-source heat pump equipped with a 220 l domestic hot water cylinder.

ThermProtect, the solar revolution continues
The launch of the revolutionary ThermProtect absorber on the range of flat-plate solar thermal collectors represents a technological breakthrough for the solar market, comparable to the arrival of condensing technology for gas and oil boilers. Viessmann is therefore taking advantage of its technological lead to extend this patented technology to tube collectors.

The new Vitosol 200 and 300-TM thus incorporate this revolutionary principle, which avoids any risk of overheating of the installation thanks to its molecular structure that adapts to the temperature. Beyond a threshold of approximately 130 °C, the collector begins to reject the excess heat; the heat transfer fluid no longer vaporises and the service life of the system is extended.

Relevant in single-family homes (particularly when the occupants are on holiday and no domestic hot water is being drawn), these new tube collectors are also ideal for larger buildings that are not occupied all year round, such as schools.

New products in Medium and High Output
In April, Viessmann launched the Vitocrossal 100 CI1, a high-performance medium-output gas boiler with a revolutionary design.

Indeed, the Vitocrossal 100 measures only 450 millimetres without its casing and is therefore ideally suited to renovation. Space is often lacking when replacing old installations. Pre-wired and pre-assembled at the factory as a complete boiler-burner unit, the heat generator can be ordered complete or delivered as separate components. The time and work required for installation are thus significantly reduced.

Its great compactness is not the only strong selling point of the Vitocrossal 100. It incorporates two proven technologies: the Inox-Crossal heat exchanger and the MatriX burner. The modulation range of 1:5 combined with a large water capacity also ensures long burner running times and reduced energy consumption.

It is also worth recalling that Viessmann offers the Vitogate 300 communication gateway, which allows the brand's heat generators to communicate with BMS using BACnet or Modbus, which account for 98 % of BMS systems on the market.

Vitodens 200-W in cascade
The words speed and simplicity perfectly describe the new hydraulic cascade modules for Vitodens 200-W wall-hung boilers. These modules reflect a comprehensive approach to today's boiler rooms, and tomorrow's, from both a technical and a practical point of view.

To gain compactness by reducing the height of the cascade hydraulics, Viessmann has merged the primary flow and return into a compact manifold block. As with the secondary heating modules, the primary boiler pump is factory-mounted on the hydraulic block. Installation is thus greatly facilitated, and limiting the number of parts to be assembled on site saves time during installation.

Setting up cascades of Vitodens 200-W boilers in series, in blocks or in corners with outputs of up to 594 kW is therefore ever simpler, with cutting-edge performance as always.

In brief
Wood boilers: launched in the 2e half of 2016, the Vitoligno 150-S was a great success with wood-heating installers. Viessmann is therefore offering this compact and high-performance model in a 35-45 kW version.

Very low sulphur heating oil: this version of domestic heating oil, which emits fewer polluting discharges, is becoming widespread in France. Developed specially for its use, the Vitoladens 300-W (wall-hung) and 333-F (compact) high-performance oil boilers allow the user to reduce both their heating bill and their environmental impact.

Accessories: because a heating installation that delivers on all its promises in terms of comfort and energy savings also means high-performance and durable accessories, Viessmann is expanding its Vitoset range to offer its installer partners quality products that are perfectly compatible with its generators: circulators, loop pumps, sludge separators, air separators and water softeners are all in the catalogue.

Proactif: a connected and committed Network
To highlight the quality of service and the support before, during and after the sale offered to private customers by the 1.800 members of its Proactif Network, Viessmann asked them to sign a commitment charter detailing the various stages of the customer process, from quotation to maintenance contract.

This charter is part of the approach undertaken by Viessmann to offer, through its Proactif partners, a comprehensive package including financing, maintenance and connectivity.
