Case equips its C Series motor graders with electro-hydraulic joystick controls

CASE is launching new joystick controls for its 836C and 856C motor graders. The new joystick controls offer better blade control, along with several steering improvements, which add to the already excellent features of these motor graders.
The benefits include:
- Improved precision thanks to the new electro-hydraulic joystick controls - increased productivity and efficiency thanks to the Dual Power system (dual power level), automatic gear shifting and Creep mode.
- Improved operator comfort and maneuverability thanks to optimized blade control and a redesigned side console.
- Compliance with the European Stage V emissions standard thanks to the selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment system (SCRoF).
- Increased safety thanks to a rear-view camera that spares the operator from constantly having to turn around while working.
Electro-hydraulic joystick control for CASE C Series motor graders
The electro-hydraulic joystick control gives the operator an unprecedented level of blade control. Each joystick is fitted with several rotary switches and push buttons, used to control the hydraulic and steering functions. The redesigned side console now contains additional switches, which allow the system to be adjusted to the operator's needs. The RTC function allows the operator to return all steering controls to the center position at the push of a button. The operator can thus operate the machine without releasing the joysticks, which reduces effort and improves productivity. Once activated, a Comfort Steering function reduces the number of steering wheel turns required to reach maximum steering lock. This promotes fine steering control and makes it easier to perform a full U-turn with just a small turn of the steering wheel.
A Combined Steering function combines the various steering controls into a single function. Once this function is activated, the front wheel steering, the frame articulation and the wheel lean work together when the operator turns the steering wheel or moves the joystick. This allows the operator to make tight turns without having to think about which steering controls to use. In addition, thanks to the TwinLift function (synchronized lifting), operators can raise/lower both blade cylinders using only the right-hand joystick. TwinLift makes it easier for the operator to correct the blade position without having to use both joysticks. This function also helps the operator when grading a wider slope, as they only need to raise the blade using a single joystick to set up the machine for the next pass.
Dual power level for CASE C Series motor graders
CASE C Series motor graders are equipped with the latest FPT 6-cylinder diesel engines with a displacement of 6,7 liters. Based on Hi-eSCR2 technology, these engines feature a maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment system (SCRoF), in order to comply with the European Stage V emissions standard. This combined system results in a compact engine compartment, with exhaust temperatures in normal operation that are on average 200°C lower than those obtained with a traditional particulate filter. These engines are specially designed to operate in a motor grader, where fast torque response is essential to maintaining high productivity levels. The Dual Power system delivers increased engine power from 4ème to 6ème gear. On the 836C and 836C AWD, the engine delivers 102 kW (138 hp) from 1er to 3ème gear, rising to 115 kW (156 hp) from 4ème to 6ème gear. On the larger 856C and 856C AWD models, the engine delivers 129 kW (173 hp) in the first 3 gears, and 142 kW (190 hp) in the following 3 gears.
Power is transmitted via an Ergopower powershift transmission with six forward and three reverse speeds. Automatic gear shifting optimizes the machine's performance and allows the operator to concentrate on the blade work. A non-stall torque converter and an automatic 100 % differential lock ensure maximum traction in all operating conditions. All-wheel-drive models also feature a Creep mode, which allows the operator to adjust the grader's travel speed almost independently of engine speed. This makes it possible to use the grader for compaction work, thereby reducing the fleet of machines needed on site and increasing efficiency, while reducing costs for the customer. The 4WD and 6WD models are available as an option with 24-inch tires, ideal for uneven ground or when a low tire bounce effect is required.
The CASE blade design maximizes controllability, with an encapsulated, low-friction, roller-mounted circle that ensures smooth rotation. The blade design reduces the number of greasing points, which cuts maintenance time and avoids the periodic replacement of wear parts - thereby reducing costs for the customer. An A-frame virtually eliminates any side load when offset, and the center shift can be hydraulically adjusted to 5 different positions. The operator can rotate the blade by more than 90° on each side without any mechanical interference. A continuously variable radius blade reduces the pulling effort and improves material rolling in finishing operations. All CASE C Series motor graders can be factory-fitted with the most common blade control solutions. The grader can be delivered to the customer in a ?plug-and-play? configuration, allowing quick installation of the 2D and 3D machine control systems. These automatic blade control systems allow even the most experienced operators to improve their productivity and achieve more consistent output.
