Bergerat Monnoyeur 4.0, connected glasses to support technicians

Bergerat Monnoyeur is improving the operational efficiency of worksites in France with the deployment of its digital tool: connected glasses. Time savings, increased productivity, quality of life at work: from 2019, the use of this communication system will revolutionize the public works sector.

Improving the operational efficiency of worksites through digital technology
In the public works sector, a machine at a standstill can have critical consequences: delays to the work, idle personnel and machines, loss of revenue, penalties, etc.

Improving the operational efficiency of worksites is therefore a major challenge for reducing lead times. In the event of an incident or breakdown, one or more technicians often have to travel to the site, which is costly in a context of technician shortage in France.

A video conferencing solution using connected glasses allows our experts to instantly guide a technician's hands in the field, remotely. Within the theme of the industry of the future, this Bergerat Monnoyeur connected technician project 4.0 aims to reinvent the way we work by moving from technologies of ?observation? to a technology of ?action.?

Bergerat Monnoyeur worked in partnership with the startup Expert Téléportation to ensure that the solution is suited to our trades. In order to test the use cases as widely as possible, the project is currently deployed with 15 units for Bergerat Monnoyeur, Eneria and Aprolis (worksites, industrial engines, handling services, etc.) of the Monnoyeur Group.

The project involves many stakeholders: our training center, the human resources manager, HSE, the innovation department and all operational managers by specialty.

?Through this project, we want to develop the transmission of knowledge and solidarity, which are essential to our values and to our group. Maximizing skills through the remote expertise of colleagues can today be achieved with the technologies of tomorrow.? Benoit POUSSOU, BM Services Director

Rethinking mobility on worksites: a new organization for repair and maintenance
During a complex repair or breakdown of a machine (on a worksite or in a workshop), connected glasses allow the repair technician to be assisted by a technical expert via video conference.

The objectives are manifold:

- Time savings: the fault can be dealt with immediately with the expertise of the reference specialist for the machine range.

- Improved efficiency and quality: the repair technician and the expert understand each other more easily. This fosters team spirit and the resolution of doubts. There is a real time saving in diagnosing and understanding the problem.

- Less travel: video conferencing via connected glasses avoids the need for the expert to travel to worksites or workshops. This has an impact on PRODUCTIVITY, SAFETY and CARBON FOOTPRINT REDUCTION / ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

The solution is also strongly endorsed by the technical teams:

- Less fatigue from travel,

- Promoting the inclusion of workers disabled by an accident who can no longer go into the field

- HSE improvement (inspection of compliance with safety rules, lone worker management, 1er diagnosis, reduction in the number of same-level falls and road accidents), etc.

Training 2.0 as support for empowering our young repair technicians
During training, a technician must demonstrate all of their knowledge before being able to take up the role of repair technician. In our skills-based trades, it takes many months, even years, to be fully autonomous in all cases.

The Expert Téléportation solution enables young repair technicians to be in post more quickly and, as a result, to improve the overall productivity of a workshop or worksite. They are more confident and progress in a more ?interactive? way when facing difficulties.
