AGC: LED active glass and fire-resistant glass at Mondial du Bâtiment

AGC, a remarkable triple presence at Mondial du Bâtiment 2017
AGC, the world leader in flat glass, confirms its momentum with a triple participation in Mondial du Bâtiment 2017. On the forecourt, AGC offers an immersion into the world of active glass with the Halio Mobile Experience Room; in Hall 5A, AGC invites visitors to discover the possibilities of LED glass and new fire solutions, including an innovation developed in partnership with Wicona. Finally, AGC will also exhibit at Idéobain in Hall 3 with the stand of its Glastetik network of installers, to showcase the range of glass solutions for interior decoration and fittings.
Halio Mobile Experience Room
On the forecourt, AGC is setting up an innovative space accessible by invitation and appointment only. The Halio Mobile Experience Room is designed to welcome architects, engineering consultancies and quantity surveyors in a privileged way, for a dedicated, high-end presentation of the possibilities of this new interactive glass. Halio is a glass that tints intelligently, automatically or on demand, taking on shades of neutral grey to protect against sunlight, glare and prying eyes, while looking like ordinary glass. Halio is the world's first technology to offer a product whose appearance is absolutely identical to that of ordinary clear glass.
Flexibility and performance oblige, Halio can be programmed according to weather conditions, a schedule or the position of the sun during the day, or even activated manually through multiple control options: voice command, mobile app or intuitive wall controls. Its tint starts instantly and can be stopped flexibly once the desired shade is achieved. In its darkest tint, Halio offers a level of privacy unachievable with traditional glass. Used for interior partitions, it makes it possible to create open, flexible rooms flooded with light that can be made private on demand. Windows fitted with Halio glass can also be tinted independently or in groups. Halio has been designed to be as easy to use as a light switch.
Equipped with bank-level encryption and security features, Halio can be integrated into building management systems (BMS) and home automation systems.
BIPV glass, active LED glass and fire-resistant glass
In Hall 5A, on stand H 11, visitors will discover in particular three monumental solutions by AGC, in addition to a BIPV glass solution for sunshade applications incorporating photovoltaic cells. The first, a façade window 5 metres high, is made with Glassiled Motion active glass. Assembled as double glazing, it incorporates monochrome or RGB LEDs that can be controlled individually. While during the day the window fulfils its primary role (solar control, light transmission, etc.), at night, in addition to providing thermal insulation, the building façade turns into a giant screen on which animations or videos can be displayed. Finally, while the glazing retains 99 % of its transparency, the LEDs used by AGC have low energy consumption yet are very bright and visible from a distance of more than 3 km!
Another large-scale solution to discover on this stand H 11 - Hall 5A: in line with architectural demand for ever larger glazed walls, AGC unveils a Pyrobel T fire-resistant tempered glass solution of 1,50 x 4,20 metres high, which can even reach dimensions of 2,00 x 4,50 m. Fire safety is now available in large dimensions, as this solution achieves EW30, EW60, EW120, EI30, EI60 ratings. Tested and approved according to European and national standards, Pyrobel T guarantees a unique combination of light, transparency, safety and fire protection, available in very large dimensions for all types of construction. Finally, Pyrobel-T also limits radiation to a maximum of 15 kW/m2. This laminated glass is made of 6 mm tempered glass and 4 mm of intumescent gel, which, in the event of fire, expands and turns into a rigid, opaque protective barrier.
A EW30 solution, a partnership between AGC and Wicona
AGC announces the showcasing of other fire product innovations, backed by numerous fire test reports, to be discovered on its stand in Hall 5A. Developed together with the system supplier Wicona, it is a complete aluminium and glass range going from EW30 Pyrobelite glazing to EI60 Pyrobel glazing (fixed, edge to edge, window and door). These test reports can also meet the C+D rule (IT 249) by limiting the spread of fire from one floor to another. Exhibited on the stand, this new EW30 module (flame barrier 1/2h), developed on the basis of Wicona's Wicline 65 FP structural solutions, is a frame made up of an opening sash over a glazed spandrel combined with a 1 single-leaf door unit integrated into the frame, without an independent intermediate structure. This module alone covers all EW30 applications (flame barrier 1/2h). The performance is achieved by simply adding accessories to products from Wicona's standard range, thus preserving the sleek design of the traditional Wicline 65 FP range, limiting the number of references and offering maximum ease of fabrication. Finally, depending on needs, the infill can be single glazing for interior applications or insulating glazing.
Finally, the last unmissable appointment at Mondial du Bâtiment 2017: AGC is also exhibiting at Idéobain (Hall 3 - G 62) on a stand dedicated to made-to-measure decorative glass solutions for the home, with its Glastetik network of decorative glass products. Bringing together the best Glastetik collection processors and French installers, perfectly trained in all types of glass and all interior applications, the Glastetik network also commits to quality services and short lead times. Whether for horizontal applications (tables, tabletops, shelves, etc.) or vertical ones (decorative lacquered glass cladding), impact-resistant glass, tempered lacquered glass from the Lacobel T or Matelac T ranges, or decorative mirror glass solutions, the Glastetik network stands out as the partner mastering technique, responsiveness and creativity.
