EIFFAGE CONSTRUCTION unveils its new concept of collective housing declined in solid wood in partnership with WOODEUM
Thursday, September 11, 2014Description :
EIFFAGE CONSTRUCTION unveils its new concept of a collective residential building for topographic and volumetric modularity at the USH Congress, which will be held from 23rd to 25th September at Eurexpo in Lyon. It offers the possibility to integrate evolutive housing . This concept, realized according to the traditional concrete method, can also be applied to the dry process using the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) or Crossed Laminated Timber.
This product intended primarily for family social housing, also adapts to projects of student residences or institutions for the elderly.

The CLT construction system combines all the advantages for the construction of multi-storey buildings. It combines technical performance in terms of load recovery with the natural qualities of solid wood: insulation, lightweight, fast to implement, ecological.
François Jullemier, Deputy Managing Director of EIFFAGE CONSTRUCTION commented: "With the rise of environmental concerns, new thermal regulations and the desire for new living environments, we see a real interest in collective wooden housing in urban areas. The CLT construction system is the best solution to meet this expectation. "
True carbon trap, CLT stores CO2 instead of emitting it. The Carbon 4 study carried out in April 2014 for Woodeum reveals that CLT stores 471 kg CO2 / m3 whereas conventional reinforced concrete emits 420 kg CO2 / m3.

"The building sector, so far considered as one of the most polluting, has a unique opportunity, with the CLT, to reverse the carbon pump and now trap the CO2 emitted by others! This is a chance we can not let through, "adds Guillaume Poitrinal, president of WOODEUM.

According to the National Observatory of Wood Construction, timber construction now accounts for 4.1% of multi-family housing starts. In the next decade this segment is expected to grow at an annual rate of 7-10%.

The model of the concept "FLEXABITAT" declined in CLT is presented on the stand of EIFFAGE CONSTRUCTION N ° 12D - Hall 6.1 at the congress USH.
