The "2014 generation" wheeled and tracked excavators are equipped with low-emission engines and a new "Terex Smart Control" control and control system which guarantee greater performance and greater profitability.
Terex is launching three new compact excavators on the market: the TW85 and TW110 wheel excavators and the TC125 Crawler Excavator. This new generation of excavators, manufactured in the Crailsheim plant by Terex Compact Germany, is equipped with diesel engines meeting the requirements of the EU IIIB exhaust gas standard (equivalent to the US EPA Tier 4 interim standard). At the same time, the excavators have a "Terex Smart Control" control and control system developed by Terex.
Peter Hirschel, Managing Director of Terex Compact Germany GmbH, says of this new generation: "By focusing on our core competence, the" Compact Construction Machines ", we achieve sustainable product improvement. The new Terex compact excavators are not only cleaner, we have taken a big step forward to offer users a real "plus": significantly more performance, more comfort in the control and, in the end, more Efficiency and more productivity. "
More powerful engines emitting less polluting emissions
The new engine variants are distinguished from their predecessors by their superior performance at 10-14% (depending on the model) with lower fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions. The three new TEREX excavators are equipped with a newly designed and water cooled 4-cylinder Turbo Diesel engine with an intercooler and exhaust gas recirculation with cooling. The latter systematically implements the principle of "Downsizing", that is to say more power with a reduced displacement.
With a cylinder capacity reduced by 10%, the parameters related to engine power are better than those of the previous model. At a nominal speed of 2000 rpm, the engine develops a power of 74.4 KW (101 HP) on the TW85 and 85 KW (116 HP) on the TW110 or TC125 model. The engine operates with an electronically controlled high pressure Common Rail injection system and generates a maximum torque of 410 Nm (at 1600 rpm).
Cmpared to the previous models, in both power variants the engine achieves reduced emission values ??by 90% and is supplied without a diesel particulate filter. It combines low consumption values ??with a higher power (up to 14% compared to its predecessor) for lower noise emissions and low maintenance costs. Nevertheless, what is decisive is that this higher power is expressed by higher performances in the working tool, with higher hydraulic oil transport values. The working tool thus has greater reserves of force.
In-house development of Terex Smart Control
The second novelty is the Terex Smart Control (TSC), an innovative control and control system. It includes a new control electronics as well as a new design of the instruments and manipulator. Maik Schulze, Head of Construction and Development: "Terex Smart Control is a system unique to Terex. From the point of view of the driver, we set ourselves the objective to improve the maneuverability and the comfort of control, the performance and the ergonomics. It is not the driver who must adapt to the shovel, but the shovel to the needs of the operator. "
Terex Smart Control is designed to improve efficiency. "The software offers the driver many possibilities of direct interventions on the performance of the machine via the screen, When adjusting the hydraulic performance of additional control circuits. "Explains Maik Schulze. "When the driver has set the configuration optimally for the operation, he saves time and can concentrate on his job properly," says Maik Schulze.
The improved working comfort improves operator efficiency. Thanks to the software, the driver can set important functions according to his personal preferences, such as the air conditioner. The guidance in the menu of all the functions is done via a simple interface as on the smartphones. No more long periods of adaptation.
New design of control elements
Control elements such as the manipulator and the switches have been completely redesigned. The result is better ergonomics, better feel and better grip. Other control functions have also been integrated into the manipulator and these become directly selectable, such as the third electro-proportional control circuit for controlling the working tools. These improvements significantly improve handling and control comfort, and result in more precise, faster, more flexible work movements and improved performance. In addition, the new keypad gathers the essential operation of the excavator, and extra-large keys can even be operated with working gloves.
Reversible fan as standard
The demanding work requires a reliable and efficient cooling system. The reversible fan with hydraulic drive is thermoregulated, starts automatically, but can also be activated manually. The same is true for cleaning intervals, the driver can let the automatic system take care of it or select operations manually.
Four additional independent control circuits
The three excavators are equipped with additional independent control circuits (up to four circuits) to work efficiently and to exploit the full power of the attached tools. The control circuits can be operated simultaneously. They are used to control the Tilt-Rotator, including a quick-change hydraulic system, as well as a hydraulically operated tool such as a sorting clamp, an asphalt cutting wheel or a milling cutter. These components allow an exact and fast working cycle combined with uniform and smooth force development.
Simplified Service Access
The simplified accessibility to the electrical system brings a plus in the field of service and maintenance. All relays and fuses are accessible from the ground, and the maintenance door can be opened without tools. In addition, all major hydraulic components under the cab were removed. It is therefore no longer necessary to tilt the cabin. Terex has equipped its new generation of excavators with a GPS interface. If it is equipped with a corresponding additional accessory, it allows the wireless transfer of service and maintenance data to a centralized server in order to improve the performance of the fleet operators.
The new generation Terex compact excavators promise the customer the combination of high power and precise, responsive control, making them cost-effective, even under extreme operating conditions.
